Maya Bay

Maya Bay, a popular cove in Thailand's Andaman Sea and the filming location for the movie "The Beach," was reopened to tourists on January 1, 2022, after being closed for almost four years due to over-tourism and environmental damage. The reopening came with new restrictions and infrastructure in place to ensure that history doesn't repeat itself for this small island paradise. The entire beach is surrounded by tall limestone cliffs, and the water is clear turquoise with baby sharks swimming around. If you're planning to visit, it's important to note that certain activities, such as overnight stays, are not allowed in the cove to protect the environment. [1][2][3][4]

We were taken aback by the long line for entry. Luckily, the line moved pretty fast. We suggest arriving earlier in the day to avoid the crowds.

Remember to bring cash for the national park fee:

400 THB per Adult

200 THB per Child
